Except I don't trust my neighbors to "Aw Shucks" the whole thing at first. Once there is no uprising, they will also coward and seethe like babies, but it's that first wave that gives me worry.

The problem with that scenario is that Uvalde has taught us that the police are fuck all worthless when it comes to stopping a mass shooter in a school.

“The Capitol Riot didn’t galvanize most Republicans against Trump for long because the Capitol isn’t where they live. The Capitol is in Washington, DC and that’s there and something that happens there only hurts people there. It’s abstract”. That’s a really good point. It will take something(s) local/regional where one’s’ family, friends, and community are put at serious risk from violence at the hands of Chump’s goons and thugs for any collective anger to fully express itself.

Thrilling! I admire the thought and good writing that went into this. I could quibble and say that a lot of MAGA nitwits will either be too stupid to identify schools as places to bag liberals, or too smart to risk killing kids. But never mind. It's an interesting exercise, and makes more sense than the entire Civil War movie of late.

But the GOP *should have been* electorally dead already... several times over.

And yet, here we are, in a place where we have to seriously wonder if this man will get put in charge again.

He should not have won the first time, using the rules of conventional wisdom. And yet....
